Uploaded files are processed in memory or temporary storage on our servers. Files are automatically deleted immediately after the processing operation is complete and the result has been delivered to your browser. We do not retain copies of your files.
Subtitle downloads never download the video itself — only its public caption track. The caption text is cached for 60 days per video and language so repeat requests are instant; it is the same text YouTube shows publicly and is not linked to you. We also keep a list of the 1,000 most recent subtitle downloads (time, video, language, format and whether it came from the cache) to monitor the service. That list does not include your IP address, and older entries are overwritten automatically.
IP addresses are used to count free daily allowances and to apply rate limits against abuse. Those counts are held in memory and reset daily. If a request fails, the error, the address that was requested and your IP address are written to an error log that keeps only the last 200 errors and is used to diagnose problems.
Language preferences are stored as cookies on your device and persist until you clear your browser cookies or change your preference.
