Translation is done by Claude, the AI model from Anthropic, which reads the surrounding lines and translates meaning rather than words. It supports 30+ languages including English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and more. All subtitle timestamps are preserved perfectly.

What's the difference between Subtitle Studio and the individual tools?

Subtitle Studio combines the Subtitle Downloader and SRT Translator into one seamless flow. Instead of downloading subtitles in one tool and uploading them in another for translation, you can do everything in one place.

Can I translate VTT or plain text subtitles?

Translation only works with SRT format, as the translator needs the SRT structure to preserve timestamps. If you download in VTT or plain text format, translation will be disabled.

Is there a limit on subtitle file size?

Free translations take files up to 15,000 characters of subtitle text (roughly 20 minutes of dialogue), up to 3 files per day, within a shared daily allowance; the SRT Translator page shows how much is left today. Need more? A translation pack (from $7, on the SRT Translator page) lifts those limits and allows files up to 250,000 characters, about five hours of dialogue. Most subtitle files are well within this limit.

Are my files stored on the server?

No. All files are processed in memory and immediately discarded. We never store your subtitle content.
